Sizing Standards for M&S
Between 1997 and 2001, Select Research managed four large sizing projects for M&S, at the time the largest clothing retailer in the UK.
The four projects undertaken were for M&S Womenswear, Menswear, Childrenswear and Bra Fit. They involved the measurement of over 10,000 men, women and children across the entire country in 3D and manual measurement.
This unique body of sizing data was used by M&S to redefine their clothes sizing specifications across all of their clothing ranges. The womenswear project was specifically used as the story for their first-ever national television and press marketing campaign.
