SizeUK - The first-ever national sizing survey using 3D technology

In 2001, Select Research was commissioned to manage the first-ever national sizing survey to use 3D scanning technology. This was a large UK Government funded collaborative project and, based upon extensive experience of managing large projects for M&S and others, Select were assigned to manage data collection on behalf of the sponsoring retailers

Over 11,000 adults aged 18 to 85 were measured across the country and the data from the project led to new sizing standards for the UK apparel industry. The project also led to other sizing projects being set up in other countries, in the US, Germany, Korea, and elsewhere.

Select Research is the Data Controller for SizeUK and in the last twenty years since the project finished, the data produced from it has been universally accepted and used by the retail industry as the benchmark for sizing data.
